Mrs Julie Fisher has been appointed the new Chief Executive of Woking Borough Council at a special meeting of Full Council held last week (Tuesday 19 January 2021).

Mrs Fisher currently holds the position of Director of Community Services at Woking Borough Council. Previously she held the positions of Deputy Chief Executive and Director of Children’s Services at Surrey County Council, where she also served as Interim Chief Executive.

Speaking of the appointment, Mrs Fisher said: “I’m honoured and delighted to be appointed as the Chief Executive of Woking Borough Council. “We face challenges and opportunities as we work to recover from the impacts of Covid-19, but I know that we have a really talented and committed staff team in the Council and I am looking forward to working with them, with Councillors and with our partners to shape a great future for Woking and to deliver great services for residents and businesses.”

“Julie demonstrated a wealth of experience and expertise throughout the demanding recruitment process, which made her suitability for the role extremely clear.

“These are unprecedented and uncertain times. Yet I am confident that Julie will drive the Council’s ambitions forward with ease and skill. I look forward to working with her.”

Julie Fisher will take up the new post on Thursday 1 April 2021. She succeeds Ray Morgan who retires on Wednesday 31 March 2021 after being Chief Executive of Woking Borough Council for 14 years.
