CONCENTRATE ON CONSISTENCY

A good smoothie is about getting the perfect blend (literally) of flavours and consistency. So whether you’re going for almond milk and peanut butter, or frozen berries and fruit juice, there is one key ingredient that will keep your smoothie at just the right thickness for optimum tasty refreshment: bananas.

Woking is full of top quality fresh fruit sellers, so stock up. Got too many? Peel ‘em and freeze ‘em. Starting to go a little bit beyond ripe? Sounds like the perfect time to get baking some banana bread!

POPEYE WAS RIGHT ALL ALONG

Necking a can of spinach might not swell up your forearms, but it will swell up your well-being! Rich in iron and plenty of vitamins, this wonder food is a must-have in any smoothie mix.

Before you start worrying… no, it’s not going to make your smoothie taste bland. Pineapple, berries, mango – whichever flavour you’ve gone for will stay at the forefront of your healthy blend.

Want to mix it up? Try kale or some broccoli for more green goodness.

STATE OF FLAX

A bag of flaxseed powder might not seem cheap, but it will last for ages. So pick one up, add a teaspoon to your smoothie mix, and give your smoothies a boost for weeks to come!

Flaxseed is rich in essential fatty acids – they’re the good ones! – and they’re gluten free, so if you’ve got an intolerance, you can still get all that flax goodness!
