From 24th July, it will be compulsory to wear face masks in shops, supermarkets and public transport. As Woking’s shops, businesses and restaurants re-open and we all get back to our normal routines, masks will become a part of everyone’s life.
Young children, people with breathing difficulties or living with a disability are exempt, but for the rest of us, it’s ‘the new normal’.
Wearing a mask is just another way we can keep our community safe. Protecting our families, friends, shop staff and other shoppers and will also ensure businesses can remain open.
Lots of shops now sell masks, but it’s just as easy to make one. It’s a fun activity for the whole family - you can use up old cotton shirts that have seen better days or express your personality with funky fabrics.
The government provides great instructions on making your own mask here.
And if you really enjoy the process, why not think about making more masks for the community by joining The Big Community Sew?
