COVID-19: Protect yourself & others in Woking

Friday March 27th 2020

Our community prides itself on supporting each other. In this unprecedented time, the best way we can do that is through following the government’s advice and guidelines, so that, together, we can help prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus. We are asking everyone in Woking to familiarise themselves with this guidance and to put it into practice in their everyday lives.

As local schools, businesses, individuals and families are all adapting through this challenging time, it is vital that we all work together by staying apart. So, please:

  1. Stay at home

  2. Only go outside for food, health reasons or work (where this absolutely cannot be done from home)

  3. Stay 2 metres (6ft) away from other people

  4. Wash your hands as soon as you get home

Public Health England is continuing to advise that good hygiene practices are the best way to prevent the spread of coronavirus. You should:

  1. Wash your hands with soap and water often (do this for at least 20 seconds)

  2. Always wash your hands when you get home or into work

  3. Use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available

  4. Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze

  5. Put used tissues in the bin immediately and wash your hands afterwards

This is not just for your own benefit, but for the elderly and more vulnerable members of our community.

Please, play your part in keeping Woking strong. And most of all, look after yourselves and each other.

Although our Civic Offices are closed, Woking Borough Council services remain open. For further information, please visit
