#WeAreWoking engages with local business network

More than 50 local businesses were represented at a town centre breakfast event to learn about the recently launched #WeAreWoking initiative.

Held at the Lightbox Theatre, the event provided an opportunity for marketing managers, business owners, social media leads and HR professionals from companies of all sizes right across Woking to meet the team behind #WeAreWoking and to get involved in the transformation of our town.

The workshop-style event provided an overview of the initiative, examples of recent and upcoming campaigns and details of how those in the room could connect and join the conversation, further expanding the reach and influence of the various platforms utilised.

Cllr David Bittleston, Leader of Woking Borough Council, said;

“This event provided an excellent opportunity for our #WeAreWoking team to meet representatives from so many local businesses and directly engage with professionals from the town centre and surrounding area.

“We are delighted that this event was so well attended and I know that the opportunities for those businesses in attendance will really help build on the already tangible successes of the #WeAreWoking initiative.”

Developed across multiple platforms including social media, print advertising, outdoor billboards and public relations, the #WeAreWoking initiative shares the vision and aspirations of the Council.

Ray Morgan, Chief Executive of Woking Borough Council, said;

“This initiative supports the significant investments being made in Woking and really showcases how they will benefit everyone as part of a wider shared future for all residents, businesses and visitors to the town and borough.

“Exciting plans, including the development of the highly anticipated Victoria Square project, are pivotal in creating a new and improved vibrant town centre fit for the 21st century, meeting the needs of everyone in the Borough, including future residents, visitors, investors and businesses. These plans will be supported throughout by the positive and proactive messaging and community engagement enacted by the #WeAreWoking strategy.”

The event provided an informal opportunity for representatives of the local business community to network and connect, both with each other and the #WeAreWoking team and learn about the various platforms available to utilise.

Providing a valuable portal for local events, jobs, community news and redevelopment updates, WeAreWoking.com and its social media channels will prove a rich resource for the whole region.
