This weekend, Woking’s new, high spec, community leisure centre, Woking Sportsbox, which was recently built and opened last summer by Woking Borough Council to expand upon the great leisure facilities in Woking, will run an open day to showcase all it has on offer.
On the 12 and 13 January, the Freedom Leisure team, which operates the centre on behalf of WBC, will open the doors to the community to try all its facilities for FREE, and for this weekend only they will also be offering new members who sign up no joining fee, plus for the first 15 a FREE MyWellness worth £15 – allowing you to maximise your workout by guiding you through a plan and tracking and recording workouts on the key and a mobile device.
Visitors will be able to try the state-of-the-art gym and even take advantage of a free 15-minute one-to-one session with a personal trainer (must be booked in advance by phone, or at reception, subject to availability, available between 10.00 and 15.00 both days).
On Saturday 12 January a programme of Les Mills most popular classes will be led by a Les Mills Master Trainer. The sessions will run from 9.00 and 12.30,with the centre’s normal class timetable running on Sunday – ALL group exercise classes are also free this weekend.
In addition, there will be a FREE 30-minute, running master class session taking place on the centre’s, competition-standard, 8-lane, 400m athletics track both days at 15.00 – to demonstrate how a track can be a great place for those looking to start running. (To attend simply turn up, maximum 20 people).
Finally, the centre’s 3 indoor sports courts will also be available for badminton for FREE – (1 hour slots available for booking by phone or at reception, subject to availability).
"The team and I are really excited to be opening the doors for locals to come and try out the entire centre’s wonderful facilities for free! We believe many locals still aren’t aware that the new centre is here, so we are hoping to highlight this amazing facility, which is right on their doorstep!"
- Geo Castro, Centre Manager
“In January, many people think about starting a new fitness kick, and we have something for everyone, whatever you want to do and whatever your ability. Running is a hugely popular fitness pastime these days, but some newbies are put off by dark evenings and icy pavements ’in full view of everyone driving past’ – but people simply don’t think about the fact a track is the perfect solution! Use of the track in included in membership, so as well as using the gym, joining exercise classes or playing sport, members can come here to run.”
