What’s Halloween without a fantastic fireworks display? Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, this year’s Woking fireworks are moon-themed. Bring the whole family for some fiendish fun at the funfair, with gates opening at 5.30, and the fireworks extravaganza kicking off at 7.30pm. More information is available at wokingfireworks.co.uk.
RHS Wisley is transforming into a ghoulish garden for Halloween with the Wisley After Dark event. Beginning in the spooky reception hall at night, you will pick up a map and pendant to light your way, and venture out into the darkened gardens to begin your foray as an intrepid explorer. The gardens will have transformed in the dark, and who knows what awaits you behind those haunted hedges? For those who prefer to admire gardens in the daylight hours, there’s no reason to miss out on the spooky shrubs, as the Mexican Day of the Dead festival takes over the Glasshouse. Tickets and date information for both events are available on the RHS Wisley website.
The Lightbox, Woking are hosting an interactive Halloween Lantern workshop for children between 5 and 7 years old. On Tuesday 29th October the spooky spirit will take over The Lightbox between 1.30-3pm. Advance booking is required, and tickets can be purchased via the Lightbox website. Costing only £8 per child, all materials are included and this is a sure fire way to keep the kids entertained, and get some spooky decorations for your own home thrown in!
If the cost of entertaining the kids for the week is petrifying your purse, fear not! There are free events galore. Drop into The Lightbox for a free firework rocket making workshop, or get your hands dirty at the Hobbycraft store in Woking, who are running a series of free workshops, such as ‘Make your own Halloween Slime’ on 21st October.
